Is she the One?

“Come on man…let’s go already!,” Derrick said eagerly.

I have three choices. Go to the party, stay at home with my aunt and little cousins or hangout with a good friend of mine that i have not seen for what seems to be a millennium. Choice number three seems to be the obvious choice for me.

“I don’t know. I don’t even know your friend. Like seriously, I’m not good with people.”

It was the god honest truth. I always seem to freeze up whenever I hangout with a large crowd of unknown faces.

“Dude…just come!” Derrick whined. “It would be fun! Plus…plus! Rosey has a hot sister that’s around you’re age,” he said with a cheeky tone.

“A hot sister? You’re seriously using that as a reason?” i replied with a chuckle.

“Come on. Please?”

By the tone, I know that Derrick is finally giving up trying to convince me. But then, I thought about how much he has helped me these last few years, financially mostly. He was there whenever i needed a hand in something, and will always be there. I loved my brother for all that he’s done for me. Why not do this little favour for him?

So I caved.

Location: Upstate.

The moment we reached the gate of Rosey’s house, one word flew in my mind: HUGE! It was a Victorian styled house with a driveway filled with Mercs and Beamers. No wonder we had to sign in at the guardhouse. Rosey must be royalty, or the daughter of one at the very least. My brother could see that I was in awe.

“Like it so far?” Derrick said with a smug face.

“Meh…”

It was the only reply i could think of. I don’t want to give him the satisfaction.

“Well let’s go in! A pretty lady awaits you,” he said with a wink.

As we stepped in the house, Rosey greeted us with a big smile. She was a fair woman with wavy brown hair; about five foot six and a slim figure. After Derrick formally introduced me to her, she invited us to go to the backyard for some food and graciously introduced us to everyone. Now when i say everyone, i mean the whole twelve people that were there. Most of them were her family.

“So is this the whole party?” Derrick asked.

“Well pretty much. I invited everyone kinda late, and these are the only ones who could turn up.” said Rosey with a hint of sadness.

“No worries. I’m pretty sure i could text a few more people to come,” said Derrick while taking his phone out of his pocket.

“Really? Thanks!” Rosey beamed. “I think a few more of my sisters friends are coming.”

“Speaking of your sisters, where are they? My brother wants to meet them.”

“Wait sisters?” I said with a bit of shock. All this time I thought she had only one sister. Well it doesn’t seem to matter anyways. As cute as Rosey was, she wasn’t my type and I’m pretty sure her sisters would be the same.

“Are you single?” asked Rosey with a smile.

“Well I-”

“He’s single tonight!” interrupted Derrick followed by a big laugh.

I snickered.

Why is it that whenever a person wants to meet another person they assume it was to hook up? Can’t you just meet someone for the sake of making new friends?

“I’d go call them.” I could see Rosey smirk before she set off to find her sisters.

“Well time to eat!” said Derrick while tapping his over-sized stomach.

We grabbed a couple of hotdogs from the grill and sat down at the dining area. Midway through my first hotdog Rosey came back with one of her sisters. Still standing she said “Derrick and Liam, meet Ariana.” We smiled and shook Ariana’s hand. As i expected, she was pretty much a younger version of Rosey. Definitely not my type.

“And here comes Sydney,” said Rosey while pointing to the door.

I turned and my heart skipped a beat.
